Choices we make
This weekend we were returning back from Mysore and we saw a terrible scene. A vehicle had overturned, we stopped and found that father and son were safe and just shaken up. Thankfully they had chosen to put their seatbelt on and were saved by the airbags. Else the scene would have been different. They called their wife/mother are imparted the same. If only had she joined this boys only trip, things would again be different as in India rarely do we were wear seatbelts in the back of the car. I was on a reflection mode due to multiple ongoing things around. I am a very organized and self critical person, but sometimes we come to a point where we need to decide things for our own sanity.
After we helped them we moved on, but since my son was sleeping, i went on a mental maze of the choices i had made over the years. There comes a point when its good to reflect and then get on with life. The college we choose , the life long friends i made there, had i changed my branch would i had been different? The choice of job again, IT or Core , choosing IT, had i chosen core would i be doing all those inventions i dreamed about or would i have missed all the friends i made over the years! You get my gist, we all do this sometimes when we go on reflection. But, the overturned car and safe people made me realize, life is too short to be unhappy over trivialities.
'karmanye vadhika raste, Ma phaleshu kadachana’ is famous shloka from Gita. Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna the theory of Karmas. He said believe in yourself and do your Karma (action) and success will follow you automatically. Doing Karma is in our hands only, Result is not in our hands. मा कर्म फल हेतु र्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्व कर्मणि॥
So, does this mean we just keep going on and on without expectations? Does this still hold true in the era of facebook, instagram ,etc etc? Do i not have the right to expect something when i give something? How is this even true in jobs ? Maybe expect something from all these? Life is a maze, where we choose the path everyday, somedays it leads to success , somedays we get stuck in the maze and struggle to get out . Ultimately, only option is to keep moving forward and live with our choices. You have made a choice, there is no time machice, live with it, its simple.
